Radio program reaction

While I was listening to the radio program, first I felt really surprised as I had never heard about what it could be done with stem cells. As the doctor in the radio program said, they could cure most diseases as they can become into any cell of the body that is needed. I think this is one of the most important discovery in the last times as cures to a lot of diseases are being looking for since years and they could come up from stem cells.
However, then the doctor mentioned that the extraction of stem cells required the destruction of embryos, which is homicide, so I think this discovery must remain only as a discovery and must not be taken into practice as nobody should support the killing of embryos, who are persons.

The promise

Peter was a 20 years old student of the economy University of Tucumán. He had lived all his life in this city and he had made lots of friends. But besides all this friends there was a very special person for him: his grandfather, the father of his mother, who lived in a little town in Bs. As. called Lobería and worked in the fields. Although they had different customs and lived far away from each other there was an amazing connection between them.
Every summer holidays Peter went to Bs. As. with his family to visit the parents of his mother and he really enjoyed riding his horse and helping his grandpa with the cows the same way his grandparents loved to be visited by their grandchildren. At the mornings Peter’s grandfather would persuade him to exercise and they would share a mate. After having lunch they would go to the fields to work the cattle and see the crops and later they might play chess, game which the old man taught how to play to Peter.
Peter’s grandmother never really liked living in Lobería so despite the fact her husband loved this town he realized it was his turn to make an effort and they moved to Tucumán.
Although the country man made lots of friends in Tucumán as he was a very nice person he missed his little town so he went there from time to time.
While Peter’s grandfather was alive the farm was rented as he never allowed to sell it and the day he died he made Peter promise he would never let something bad happened to it. However, some time after his death Peter’s family was going through a terrible economic situation so although Peter refused, they sold the farm.
3 years later the new owners of the farm received an offer to sell it to a company that wanted to construct a factory there. When Peter heard this he started thinking how would his grandfather feel about it if he had been alive and he decided he wouldn’t permit the construction of the factory in the farm. However, it was not something easy as he had to buy it and although he had some money as all his life he had saved it, it was not enough.
He tried all the things he could to reach the money he needed but he failed in his try. He asked the bank, for example, to borrow him money but as he was very young and didn’t have a job they refused. Although he had said he wouldn’t permit the selling of the farm there was no way to reach the money necessary to stop it.
Peter felt he had failed to his grandpa and was very upset. Tom, a very close friend of Peter who was studying agronomy saw his friend sad and told him he had a plan to stop the demolition of the farm. It consisted on start buying it with the money Peter had and then Tom, who loved workings in the fields, would exploit the farm so they would continue paying for it with the money they earned from Peter’s friend work. So Tom would move to Lobería and exploit Peter’s grandfather farm to pay for it and when he had finished the payment Peter told him the farm would be for him.
When Tom was preparing the luggage the phone rang. It was his exgirlfriend. She told him since some days she had started having some strange symptoms, that she had just made a pregnant test and had found she was going to have a baby whose
father was him.
When Tom heard this he couldn’t believe it and although she wasn’t his girlfriend now he decided he would take care of the baby. Although he was very happy with the idea of becoming a father he was sad because the plan he had thought wouldn’t be able to be done. He told to Peter he couldn’t move to Lobería to work in the farm and Peter felt the same sensation of failing to his grandfather he had felt before.
The days passed and the farm was going to be bought by the company but Peter, remembering the promise he had made to his grandfather of not letting anything bad happened to the farm, came up with a decision that would change his life completely. Although he had not finished his career yet and had no idea about working in the fields, the love he felt towards his grandfather made him decide to start buying the farm, to move to Lobería and to do the job Tom was going to do: work in the fields to continue paying for it.
He had to leave his family, friends and career but the promise he had made to his grandpa was more important than all this.

Radio programme

After listening to the radio programme again (I had listened to it other year) I feel surprise about the amount of hours people work in countries like U.S. and Japan. In my opinion this is a very important reason why they are what they are: countries of the first world as work is what makes a countrie develop. For example, I think here in Argentina we work much less hours per day than these countries and in some way this is why we can't leave this terrible situation in which we are. Apart from this, we are always having more and more holidays which shows that the government is the one which promotes the lack of work. This is something terrible and demonstrates that the change can only get out from the normal people that work everyday.

Very scared

I went to Tafi for Easter with my family. I went with the car to the town and when I was coming back I decided to explore some places. Driving through a thin path, one of the wheels passed off the way. I tried reverse but the car could not move. So, trying to get out through another way, one of the back wheels suspended in the air. A man that was passing through there stopped his car and went to help me. He told me to call a truck because if I tried to get out by my own the car could turn around. I told my father nd he went to see me. He talked with the other man and decided to try to get out by my own. I could not give the car to my father because if I left the car, it would turn over. Slowly I make the car move and the wheel that was suspended came down again. Fortunately I could get out.

........

I have just made 5 entries and this is my 6th. In part this is because I do not have internet in my home and I have to write for tomorrow. Although, if I had internet, I don´t see myself writing in this blog from time to time. I do not like to write. I think all the times will be like this. Writing many entries at one time although I know it would be much easier to write periodically. I will make an effort to change this because I will die if I write so much entries at once again.

Hemingway

Hemingway stories are very similar and have a lot themes in common. He always writes about lonelyness, isolation, death and themes like this. Honestly I do not like this stories too much although some of them are pretty good. However, I think ´´Old Man At The Bridge`` for example is very boring and has not sense at all. It is a stupid storie. What is very good in Hemingway stories is his way of writing. He is very intelligent doing this.

Farenheit 451

I have not finished this book yet and I still have to read some pages for tomorrow, but I think this book is a perfect comparison with a big part of our society, that do not read books and instead, watch tv programs which the last think that make you do is think. Nowadays is not very common that a teenager read a book, and sometimes this is not well looked as it is not fashion. Sincerely I almost never read and I know that I´m loosing a lot of interesting things. Maybe I start a book but I do not finish it. I have to make more effort as I know there are wonderlful things hidden in books.

A bit of luck

As I am with conjuntivitis I could not go to Tafi yesterday with the school. My uncle came to Tucuman from Bs. As for the 80s of my grandfather and today he was going to Salta to visit the Virgin. As I had nothing to do unless writing on this blog (jaja), I went with him. When we were coming back from Salta, the fuel needle suddenly went down. We were in the middle of the desert. The next town was at about 40 km. so we thought we would have to call S.O.S. However, the car never stopped and although the fuel light remained ligthing for hours, fortunately we reach to the town and could recharge fuel. The moments when we were more scared was during the mountain parts. we thought the car would stop in any moment.

You 2.0

This article shows the dimension of technology in our lifes. Although this does not happen in all the families, and here in Argentina is not as worse as in the U.S., I think this is happening in a lot of homes and will get worse with the developing of more technology. It is important to think about this and not let technology affects the relationships with our familie and friends. If we don´t do this, we will all finish living in our own separate universes.

I don´t know what to write

I know I am starting to write on my blog a ´´little`` late but well, I am without internet and when I go to a ciber I do other things. As I don´t know what to write I will say that I want to kill all the assistants of Arnet as I am without internet since more than a month and I call all the time and they make me wait a lot and they tell to wait, but I am tired of waiting. I´m tired of hearing all the times the same song and the same operator saying ´´all our assistants are bussy, please wait``. And the worst thing is that we have to continue paying, but we will tell them to refound all the money we pay when we had not internet.
